LINEAS DEL DESEO I

Llevo varios meses queriendo iniciar esta serie y por diversos motivos, sobre todo mi falta de insistencia, el proyecto se ha ido retrasando. La última fecha que me fije fue el 29 de diciembre, un día que tenia una gran carga simbólica para mi, sin embargo también pasó. De todos modos, aquí me encuentro a 9 de enero, iniciando la serie con este breve texto que tampoco parece va a aclarar mucho.

El nombre lo he tomado de la exposición que Bárbara Rodríguez Muñoz y Lorena Muñoz-Alonso han comisariado para El Espai Cultural Caja Madrid Barcelona. La serie, al contrario que todas las realizadas hasta la fecha en este blog, no tiene fin; es probable que en algún momento abandone la numeración y solo quede el nombre. El contenido sera muy similar a lo que viene siendo el blog en estos últimos años: una imagen, canción, video o texto que representa eso que en mi cabeza aparece claramente definido pero que me resulta imposible expresar por escrito ante mi continuado letargo.

EL VERANO INCOMPLETO III

"'Ride On Time' was just a plain piano track with no vocals, and no title yet, and Davoli was the resident DJ at Starlight, one night while he was playing at Starlight, he dropped this piano track and decided to mix an accapella over the top and cut it up, which incidently was 'Loleatta Holloway - Love Sensation' (probably taken from.. Various - Acapella Anonymous Vol. #1 from the 80's). The crowd went mental and hey presto, 'Ride On Time' was born."

 "Loleatta Holloway was on the original version, that was illegally sampled. Heather Small performed on this "re-recorded" version (i.e. in the video above) due to Black Box effectively being sued"

 "Technotronic's debut hit "Pump Up The Jam" was kept from the #1 spot in the UK by "Ride On Time". That act was fronted by the blue-lipped model Felly, who like Quinol, was merely hired to front the project, though Felly was quickly ditched when the parents of the real singer (Ya Kid K) relented after the huge success of the track and allowed their daughter to do publicity."

"Technotronic's first single, 1989's "Pump Up the Jam," was a smash hit across Europe and eventually the U.S. While the record featured the raps of Ya Kid K, she was nowhere to be seen in the accompanying video, which instead featured Zairean-born fashion model Felly lip-syncing the lyrics; little did fans realize that not only was Felly nowhere near the studio at the time the single was recorded, in truth she did not even speak a word of English. She was also featured on the cover of Technotronic's debut LP, Pump Up the Jam: The Album, further blurring the lines between truth and fiction; in the end, Bogaert admitted that Felly's services had been engaged purely to establish the group with "an image." When Technotronic toured in support of the 1990 hit "Get Up! (Before the Night Is Over)," Ya Kid K and MC Eric were alone behind the microphone, and Ya Kid K was also rightfully featured in the song's video."

Goldie y Diane Charlemagne en directo desde Benicassim. Era el año 1998 y Goldie, por diversas cancelaciones de ultima hora, paso de la carpa Galax-Nitsa al escenario principal. No me imagino un cierre mejor. El abono general para los tres días incluía siete días de acampada y costaba 12.800 pesetas.

"Es el marco idóneo para un festival que aspira a congregar a 25.000 espectadores cada año. Ése es el techo al que nos hemos propuesto llegar y que podemos alcanzar sin cambiar nuestra filosofía y planteamientos" David Moran en aquellos días.

AMNESIA 1989

Esto que hoy os muestro es lo mas bello que han visto mis ojos en tiempo reciente. La persona que porta la camara capta la esencia de aquel dia sin efectos ni montajes extraños. La sesion de Alfredo, el mitico DJ de Amnesia entre 1984 y 1989, es de lo mas brillante que han escuchado estos oidos: Sterling Void, Technotronic, Raul Orellana, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Inner City... Ademas, en el primer video se puede escuchar parte del directo que Adamski hizo aquel dia. No hay palabras para mostrar la emocion que ha recorrido mi cuerpo cuando he podido ver las cinco partes completas. ¡Disfrutad!
